Moving Animals to a Pasture

Assigning animals to a pasture tracks where they are grazing and builds a movement history over time.

How to Move an Animal to a Pasture

  1. Open the animal’s record.
  2. Click Actions > Move to Pasture, or click Edit and set the pasture in the summary section.
  3. Select the target pasture.
  4. Confirm the move.

  2. Click Add Animals.
  3. Select the animals to assign.
  4. Confirm the assignment.

What Happens When You Move an Animal

  • Turn-in date is recorded. The date the animal entered the pasture is tracked.
  • Previous pasture is deactivated. If the animal was in a different pasture, that assignment is marked as inactive, preserving the history.
  • Current pasture is updated. The animal’s record shows the new pasture as its current location.
  • Days in pasture are tracked. The system records how many days each animal spends in each pasture.

Bull Tracking

The system also tracks which bulls are currently in which pastures. This helps you monitor natural breeding exposure by seeing which bulls are with which groups of cows.

Tips

  • Move animals promptly. Recording moves when they happen keeps your pasture assignments accurate for reporting and smart group filters.
  • Use pasture-based smart groups. Create smart groups that filter by pasture to automatically track which animals are in each location.
