Pastures Overview

The Pastures feature in Cattle360 lets you manage your land, track which animals are in each pasture, record crops and maintenance, and view pasture boundaries on a map.

What Are Pastures?

A pasture represents a defined area of land on your operation. Each pasture can track:

  • Location and boundaries — Draw pasture boundaries on a map with coordinate data.
  • Acreage — Record the size of the pasture.
  • Pasture type — Classify the type of pasture (e.g., improved, native, hay meadow).
  • County — Automatically determined from the pasture’s coordinates.
  • Animal assignments — Track which animals are currently in the pasture and their movement history.
  • Crops — Record crop types and amounts planted or planned.
  • Maintenance — Log maintenance activities with dates, costs, and notes.

Where Pastures Appear

  • Pastures screen — View all pastures with animal counts and map previews.
  • Animal records — Each animal shows its current pasture assignment.
  • Smart group criteria — Pasture assignments can be used as filters for smart groups.

Getting Started

  1. Create a pasture — Add a new pasture with a name, type, and acreage.
  2. Map the boundaries — Draw the pasture on the map to define its location.
  3. Assign animals — Move animals to the pasture to start tracking their location.
