How Animal Sale Tickets Appear in Financials
When you sell animals in Cattle360, the sale can be tracked as a financial transaction. This article explains how animal sales connect to the financial system.
What Is a Sale Ticket Transaction?
A sale ticket is a special transaction type that represents income from selling animals. It links the animal sale record to the financial system so that sale revenue appears in your dashboards, ledger, and reports.
How It Appears on the Dashboard and Ledger
Sale ticket transactions are visually distinct from regular transactions:
- Sale Badge — A “Sale” badge appears in the Type column next to the Income label.
- Linked Animals — The description column shows animal chips (ear tags or names) for each animal on the sale. Click any animal chip to go directly to that animal's detail page.
- Overflow Indicator — If many animals are on one sale ticket, the display shows the first few with a “+X more” indicator.
Sale Ticket Behavior
Sale ticket transactions have some unique characteristics:
- Payment type is locked. The payment type is automatically set to “Sale Ticket” and cannot be changed.
- Type is Income. Sale tickets are always recorded as income.
- Linked animals are read-only. You can see which animals are on the ticket, but the animal linkage cannot be changed from the financial form.
Filtering Sale Tickets
You can find sale tickets in the ledger using these filters:
- Payment filter — Select “Sale Ticket” to see only sale ticket transactions.
- Type filter — Select “Income” (all sale tickets are income).
- Search — Search by the sale description or vendor name.
Sale Tickets in Reports
Sale ticket income is fully included in:
- Dashboard summary — Income totals include sale ticket revenue.
- Profit & Loss report — Sale income appears under the assigned category, just like any other income transaction.
- Profitability report — If a sale ticket is assigned to groups or tags, it appears in the profitability report for those entities.
Tips
- Assign a category. Make sure your sale tickets have a category (e.g., “Livestock Sales”) so they appear correctly in the Profit & Loss report.
- Assign groups or tags. If you want to track profitability by herd, group, or season, assign the appropriate groups or tags to sale ticket transactions.
- Use the animal chips. Click on the linked animal chips in the ledger to quickly navigate to the animal's record and see the full sale details.
