Viewing the Profit & Loss Report

The Profit & Loss (P&L) report gives you a complete breakdown of income and expenses organized by category. Use it to understand where your money is coming from and where it's going.

Opening the Report

  1. Open the Financial Dashboard.
  2. Click Profit & Loss in the toolbar.

Note: The Profit & Loss report is available on desktop only. On mobile devices, a message will indicate the report is available in desktop mode.

Report Layout

Summary Cards

Three cards across the top show high-level totals for the selected date period:

ExpensesTotal expenses for the period.
Net Profit/LossIncome minus Expenses. Displays in red if negative.

Top Drivers

Below the summary, two sections highlight which categories are driving your numbers:

  • Top Income Drivers — Categories with the highest income. Shows the category name, number of entries, and total amount.
  • Top Expense Drivers — Categories with the highest spending. Same detail.

Detailed P&L Table

The main table breaks down every transaction by category, organized into two major sections:

  1. Income
  2. Expenses

Each section is expandable and shows:

At the bottom of the table, a Net Profit/Loss row shows the final result.

Filtering by Date

Click the filter button in the toolbar to change the date period. Options include:

  • Year-to-Date (YTD)
  • Month-to-Date (MTD)
  • All Time
  • Custom Date Range

The report recalculates all totals based on the selected period.

Expanding and Collapsing Sections

  • Click the toggle arrow on any section, parent category, or subcategory to expand or collapse it.
  • Each level is independently expandable — you can expand Income while keeping Expenses collapsed, or drill into a specific category.

Printing the Report

Click the Print button in the toolbar to print the report. The printed version includes:

  • A header with the report title and date range.
  • All expanded sections and line items.
  • A generated timestamp at the bottom.
