Scanning and Extracting Receipt Data with AI

Cattle360 uses AI-powered receipt analysis to save you time. Instead of manually entering every detail, you can upload a receipt image or PDF and let the system extract the information automatically.

How It Works

The AI receipt extraction uses document intelligence to read your receipt and pull out key information, including:

  • Merchant name — The store or vendor on the receipt.
  • Receipt date — The date of the purchase.
  • Total amount — The total charged.
  • Line items — Individual items purchased, including descriptions and amounts.

Step-by-Step

  1. Open the Add Receipt form.
  2. Upload a receipt using Choose file or Scan receipt (mobile).
  3. After the file is selected, click the Extract from receipt button.
  4. The button will show Analyzing... while the AI processes the image.
  5. Once complete, the form fields are automatically filled with the extracted data.
  6. Review the extracted information and make any corrections as needed.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use clear images. Avoid blurry, dark, or heavily creased receipts.
  • Capture the full receipt. Make sure all edges and text are visible in the image.
  • Standard receipt formats work best. Typed/printed receipts are recognized more reliably than handwritten ones.
  • PDF receipts from online purchases tend to give the most accurate results.

After Extraction

  • All fields (merchant, date, total, and line items) can be manually edited after extraction.
  • If the AI missed or misread a line item, you can add, remove, or correct items manually.
  • You can still use the Extract from receipt button again if you upload a different file.

When Extraction Isn't Available

The Extract from receipt button only appears after you've selected or scanned a receipt file. If no file is uploaded, the button won't be visible.
