How to Add a Receipt

Receipts let you store images or PDFs of your purchase documentation and optionally break them into itemized line items.

Opening the Receipt Form

  • Dashboard — Click Add Receipt in the toolbar (desktop) or tap the FAB and select Add Receipt (mobile).
  • Ledger — Click Add Receipt in the toolbar.

Uploading a Receipt File

The top of the form shows two upload options:

  • Choose file — Browse your device for an image, PDF, or stored file.
  • Scan receipt (mobile only) — Use your device camera to capture a receipt photo directly.

After selecting a file, the filename appears as a chip. Click Remove to clear it and choose a different file.

Filling Out the Form

Extracting Data with AI

If you upload a receipt image or PDF, you can click Extract from receipt to have Cattle360 automatically read the receipt using AI. The system will attempt to fill in:

  • Merchant name
  • Receipt date
  • Total amount
  • Individual line items

Creating a Transaction at the Same Time

When adding a new receipt, a checkbox appears at the bottom: Also create a transaction when saving.

When checked:

  • Saving the receipt will immediately open the transaction form, pre-filled with details from the receipt.
  • The button label changes to Save receipt & create transaction.

This is a convenient way to record a receipt and its corresponding expense in one flow.

Saving

Click Save when you're ready. The receipt is saved to your account and can be viewed or attached to transactions later.
