Viewing an Animal’s Offspring
You can see all offspring linked to any dam or sire, giving you a complete view of an animal’s production history.
How to View Offspring
- Open the dam’s or sire’s animal record.
- Navigate to the Offspring tab or section.
- All linked offspring are listed with their key details.
Offspring Information Shown
Each offspring entry typically displays:
- Identification — Ear tag or name of the offspring.
- Birth Date — When the offspring was born.
- Sex — The sex of the offspring.
- Status — Current status (Active, Sold, Dead, etc.).
Click on any offspring to open its full animal record.
Use Cases
- Evaluate a cow’s production. See how many calves a cow has produced and their outcomes.
- Evaluate a sire’s progeny. Review all offspring from a specific bull to assess his genetic contribution.
- Track calving intervals. Compare birth dates of consecutive offspring to measure calving intervals.
Tips
- Keep lineage up to date. Animals only appear as offspring if their sire or dam is assigned. Make sure to assign lineage when creating records.
- Use Reference animals for outside sires. Even if a bull is not in your herd, creating a Reference record for him lets you track all his offspring in one place.
