Navigating the Animal Record

Each animal in Cattle360 has a detailed record page with multiple sections. This article explains what you’ll find on each tab and how to navigate the record.

Animal Summary

When you open an animal record, the summary section appears at the top and shows the most important details at a glance:

  • Identification — Ear tag, EID, name, and other identifiers.
  • Type and sex — Animal type (Bull, Cow, Calf) and sex.
  • Status — Active, Sold, Dead, Missing, or Reference.
  • Breeding status — Open, Exposed, or Pregnant.
  • Sire and Dam — Quick-edit links to assign or change parents.
  • Pasture — Current pasture assignment with quick-edit.
  • Image — The animal’s photo, if uploaded.

Record Tabs

Below the summary, the animal record is organized into tabs:

  • Overview — Full details including identification, descriptive fields, calfhood information, acquisition details, and group memberships.
  • Weights — Weight history with gain calculations. See Recording Weights for details.
  • Treatments — Health records including medications, withdrawal dates, and booster schedules. See Adding a Treatment.
  • Notes — Freeform observations and reminders. See Adding Notes.
  • Offspring — All calves linked to this animal as a dam or sire. See Viewing Offspring.
  • Breeding — Breeding history and current breeding status.

Actions Menu

The Actions button provides quick access to common operations:

  • Edit — Open the full edit form.
  • Add Note — Create a new note.
  • Rate Animal — Add or update star ratings.
  • Mark as Sold — Record a sale.
  • Mark as Dead — Record a death.
  • Promote / Demote — Change the animal’s production stage.
  • Reset to Active — Restore an animal to active status.
  • Delete — Permanently remove the record.

Tips

  • Use the summary for quick edits. Sire, dam, and pasture can be changed directly from the summary without entering full edit mode.
  • Check the breeding tab for reproductive status. The breeding tab shows the animal’s full breeding history, not just the current status.
