Animal Statuses and Types
Understanding animal statuses, types, and sexes is essential for using Cattle360 effectively. These classifications drive how animals appear in groups, reports, and market intelligence.
Animal Statuses
| Status | Description |
| Active | Currently in the herd and alive. This is the default status for new animals. |
| Sold | The animal has been sold. Sale date and price are recorded. |
| Dead | The animal has died. Death date and cause are recorded. |
| Missing | The animal’s whereabouts are unknown. |
| Reference | A reference-only record (e.g., a sire not in your herd but used for lineage tracking). |
Animal Types
Cattle360 only supports cattle at this time:

Animal Sexes
| Species | Sexes |
| Cattle | Bull, Steer, Heifer |
Automatic Sex Selection
When you select an animal type, the sex may be set automatically:
- Bull → Sex is set to Bull
- Cow → Sex is set to Heifer
- Calf → You must select the sex manually.
Breeding Statuses
| Breeding Status | Description |
| Open | Not currently bred or exposed to a bull. |
| Exposed | Currently exposed to a bull or has a breeding record but not yet confirmed pregnant. |
| Pregnant | Confirmed pregnant via pregnancy check. |
Acquisition Types
| Type | Description |
| Raised | Born on your operation. This is the default. |
| Purchased | Bought from an outside source. Purchase date and price can be recorded. |
